Can anyone give me advice on how to train a horse. I presently own a Quarter horse(Buckskin "DUN). She will be two at the end of April. So far, she has been a wonderful child to care for, since she seems receptive to my commands. I have not ridden her, yet! She has been a lot fun.Any imput? I am learning that it will be very expensive to maintain her, but it will all be worth it. I am finding out that ii has been excellent investment in my years after 50! 2 comments from 2 users

Hi Dina, Training a horse is lots of fun, but it really helps to have someone train you first. You need to look around for someone who can help guide you through the process. When evaluating a trainer, look for someone who is respectful of the animal. Pain is not part of training. At the same time horses without discipline are dangerous. One of the first things a horse needs to learn is to stay out of our space. A horse that makes the other horse move, wins! (Becomes the dominant horse) Be sure that your horse moves away from you and that you don't move away from the horse! I'm sure you will be able to find someone to help you.
