Pass the P.U.C.! Settle argument between John Rich and Rosanne Cash over Johnny Cash's politics

Welcome to my brand new blog n roll series, Pass the P.U.C. (Pass the Polical Uniter Challenge).  I'm Dr. BLT and I'll be your host.

In this series, you will compete to be the Political Uniter of the Day by offering a statement you would offer to John Rich and Rosanne Cash to settle the argument or ease the tension between country/cable TV star, John Rich of Big and Rich, and Rosanne Cash over the politics of Rosanne's father, Johnny Cash:

http://www.theboot.com/2008...

If you can offer a statement deemed by myself and other blog visitors to be the most likely to lead to a reconciliation between the two, you will be named Political Uniter of the Day.

Are you ready for me to pass you the p.u.c.?  Remember, partisan dividers (discouraged, but not forbidden to offer partisan comments in this series) will try to get to you with partisan bait.  They will try to sap your Unifer energy by passing you their negative energy.  They are the goalies if you will.  You must not allow them to deter you from scoring a goal, landing the p.u.c. right in the net?

So, are you Ready? Set?  Blog n roll!

I can see both sides of the argument.  It was an off the cuff statement, but I feel that John had reason to make such a remark.  Many years ago, my Grandfather was a Pastor in Nashville, TN.  He actually babtized the two youngest children in the Cash family.  With the faith of both Johnny and June, I feel that McCain would be more aligned morally with their beliefs.  It should be taken as a compliment, not as a bash, that Johnny would vote for McCain.  So, let's move on from here, k?

DrBLT, I can't believe I missed this post until just now.

I know John Rich personally, and I can tell you that words haven't been created yet that would bandage half the things he's said. He speaks his mind unapologetically about many things and, in this case, about politics, much in the way Susan Sarandon, Matt Damon, or Sheryl Crow do.  The difference is that when a conservative "star" speaks up, suddenly it makes the news.  In other words, it's all fun and games until a star speaks up for the other side.

If a democrat had said the same thing, I doubt Ms. Cash would have had a problem.  Bottom line is that Johnny is gone and we really don't know who he would have voted for.  But Ms. Cash has certainly drawn attention to John's remarks, which can only help McCain.  If her intent was to set the record straight for the benefit of anyone ignorant enough to cast his vote in the way of a dead country singer, I fear she's failed.

I guess I don't win the P.U.C.    :)
