Blast from the past - Musings of this paper's editor - sunnica's Blog - The Bakersfield Voice

Have you ever been in a work situation or just somewhere you'd never think you'd see someone you knew, and then POW!...out of nowhere, you run into someone from your past. It happened to me today. Within a split second, I was transported in time more than 20 years, everything else disappeared, and it was like I was 18 again. WEIRD... because in that moment, I was 18, living back at home with my parents, no children, and seeing this man as a boy again. It wasn't deja vu, it was more like stepping quickly in and out of a time machine. It lasted about a minute.
It was cool, but not something you can recreate or even order up.
Occasionally life just offers us really cool moments like this.

Apr 7, 2008 at 08:04 AM : Speaking of old...

Speaking of old friends. I just got an email (through Caroline) from people who were like family to us years ago when we first moved to Bakersfield. They lived in Arvin. We would go out there on weekends. My girls picked carrots from a friends field. My oldest daughter learned to drive on dusty farm roads. It was great. I hope, now that I know where our old friends are, that we can rekindle the friendship again.
