Lost socks and lost friendships....one in the same? - Neighborhood etiquette - tsimpson's Blog - The Bakersfield Voice

I just finished folding laundry and much to my dismay, I am adding one more sock to the lost sock club on top of the dryer. The club now has 6 members. I have an analogy: Lost socks are like lost friendships. They are there one day and gone another. You can search all over for that lost friend/sock and sometimes, they show up in the oddest places; however, most of the time they are gone forever. I miss those socks and I miss some old friends, but some of the socks/friendships had holes in them and no matter how many times I mended them, the holes would inevitably get bigger. I have purchased new socks and have found new friendships, but I truly miss my favorite pair of comfy pink slipper socks that always kept my feet warm, just like I miss some friends that always kept my heart warm. Maybe they will show up some day, or not. Either way, I will continue folding laundry and smile while doing so.
