It's not even a political issue, but because people like to push boundaries, it becomes one. Proposition 8, defining marriage as between a man and woman only, is not discriminatory. Same sex "Life Partner" couples are already given rights. This proposition is a line drawn in the sand, a line of common sense. If we don't draw the line, then crazy people will push it even farther because we open the door for them to do it.
"But Kevin, two people who love each other should be allowed to marry."
"OK, so what if I want to marry my cousin? My Aunt? My sister?"
"Well, no Kevin, that would not be ok. If you have children there are a range of possibilities of physical concerns."
