Thanks for responding. You all gave some really good insight into suffering. I especially appreciate the advice to do something to show my concern for my friend. Recently, I e-mailed her to offer support to her and her family. Hopefully, we have an opportuntity to share in her suffering soon. I take comfort that she and her family are also people of deep faith and know God is in control. It is one thing to know this and believe it with all your heart, it's another thing to live it. The respect I have for my friend and her family is just multiplied when I contemplate this simple fact. That's life though, isn't it. If we got what we deserved we would get much worse than cancer, I agree, however, it's interesting to see who God allows to suffer and who He allows to live what appears to be relatively freely. Don't get me wrong I'm not questioning His judgement, who am I to even consider God's reasons? Noone, obviously, it's just a marvelous thing to consider.
