Welcome to The Southwest Voice, a online community and newspaper for Southwest Bakersfield residents!
 

My name is Olivia and I am the Publisher of The Southwest Voice.
We have a new Southwest Voice editor. Her name is Natalie Erlendson. She joins us with great background in community involvement and special marketing and writing skills.

Please talk to her about anything, whether it's a story idea, web site questions or community or photo contribution.

She is excited about getting connected with our Southwest community!

A little more about me:
I have been in the journalism business for nearly 15 years. I knew this was the business I wanted to go into after being influenced by my high school college prep English teacher and my high school journalism teacher.
Bakersfield holds a special place in my heart: I love working in the community where I was born and raised.

I am married to a local deputy sheriff, and we have three handsome sons. We are expecting a fourth son soon!
We also have three beautiful German Shepherds.
I am a Fresno State grad. Go Bulldogs!

I love the Northwest Voice becauses it's all about you and what's important to you. It's exciting to see all these great community contributions and photo submissions.

In addition, our regular columnists really a special feel to our publication.
