About rustman
Hi. I'm Rusty Shoop. I've been in the television news business here in Bakersfield since 1984. A brain aneurysm in Jan '07 put me on the sidelines and is still causing problems. But as my doctor tells me, I'm lucky to be alive. My wife Diane is a Junior High School counselor. We have two daughters living here in Bakersfield. In November of '08, I returned to my original station, to do my original job here in Bakersfield as the Weathercaster for Channel 23. I have a passion for studying the Bible. I do it religiously (pun intended). It's amazing to me how God can reveal Himself through His word. I just wish I understood it better (ahhh, human limitations). I also enjoy sharing my faith with different Christian groups and writing Christian songs. I want to thank a couple of people who were instrumental in my being involved in 'The Voice.' Caroline Reid, who wrote a wonderful article about me. And Dana Martin whose faith and enthusiasm are quite contagious. Dana also has a great knack for putting up with my weird sense of humor. In closing, I also want to thank all the wonderful people out there who have said such wonderful things, both face-to-face and electronically. And I want to say a special thanks to all those who have shared family health stories similar to my own, many of which had much worse outcomes. My prayers are with you all. So here goes, my official 'Blog Spot.' Now all I have to do is think of something to write about.
