Hello, Northwest friends and neighbors!

First and foremost, let's make this an early reminder for stories.  The deadline for the July 30th issue of The Northwest Voice is:

Tuesday, July 22 at 6:00 p.m.!

In this issue, we are looking for:

• NASCAR stories & photos. Have you gone to a race? Taken your picture with a NASCAR driver? Let us see! Your photo may end up on the cover of the next issue!
• Stock car racing at the old Mesa Marin Raceway; Do you have old photos? How about memories? Log on to www.northwestvoice.com and share your memories in a blog.
• Maybe you know someone close to you (grandfather, neighbor, co-worker) who is into racing. Please forward this email to him/her!
• Does your child race some type of motorized vehicle?  Let us know what he/she races, where, for how long, and what awards, if any, he/she has won.
• Taking The Voice on Vacation contest entries.
• Educator of the Month, Athlete of the Month (we need these all summer!)

Bless the Beasts — July 16, 2008

In this issue, readers contributed photos of their pets and stories about pet adoption and the current dog & cat overpopulation crisis in Kern County.

To help, The Northwest Voice is partnering with NOR, San Joaquin Veterinary Hospital, and ALPHA Canine Shelter to raise funds and awareness in our first ever Pet — Donation and Adoption Awareness Drive:

Please join us on August 16 (in the morning, before it's too hot!), and bring anything from this list:

• Blankets, sheets, towels (for the shelters)
• Dog/cat toys
• Dry dog and cat food
• Paper towels
• Aluminum cans (for recycling!)
• Money!

There will be a vet on hand to answer questions, members of the SPCA, and adoptable dogs on site. Please bring your dog for a walk -- for a good cause!

There will also be drawings for FREE spay and neuter vouchers!

As always, if you know someone not receiving The Voice, please feel free to forward this email.  In order to receive the newsletter (which you all do), a person needs to be a site user, not just a mail subscriber.  So, please pass along the information for them to register to be a NWV site user.  Thanks!
