The Centennial High School softball team is looking forward to a great year and is off to a winning start by bringing home a first place trophy from their first tournament. Centennial, along with Ridgeview and Stockdale, represented Bakersfield at the Redwood Invitational Softball Tournament held February 27th through March 1st in Tulare. With 15 of the top softball teams in central California at the tournament, the competition was strong.
Playing a total of 8 games, the Lady Hawks scored a total of 58 runs and allowed only 8 runs throughout the entire tournament. The highlight of the tournament was the fact that CHS run ruled (winning by 9 or more runs) teams from: Mt. Whitney, Tulare Union, Madera, Clovis West, and Tulare Western.
Making up the CHS team this year are: Seniors – Hanna Grisham, Joni Lagerstrom, Vanessa Medina, Jessica Newton-Smith, and Amanda Roberts; Juniors – Brandi Church, Laura Fox, Ensley Gammel, McKenzie Joseph, Samantha Saenz, and Nikki Sawyer; Sophomore – Briana Ford; Freshman – Brittney Roberts.
