             The Centennial High School softball team is looking forward to a great year and is off to a winning start by bringing home a first place trophy from their first tournament. Centennial, along with Ridgeview and Stockdale, represented Bakersfield at the Redwood Invitational Softball Tournament held February 27^th through March 1^st in Tulare.  With 15 of the top softball teams in central California at the tournament, the competition was strong. 

            Playing a total of 8 games, the Lady Hawks scored a total of 58 runs and allowed only 8 runs throughout the entire tournament. The highlight of the tournament was the fact that CHS run ruled (winning by 9 or more runs) teams from: Mt. Whitney, Tulare Union, Madera, Clovis West, and Tulare Western.

            Making up the CHS team this year are: Seniors – Hanna Grisham, Joni Lagerstrom, Vanessa Medina, Jessica Newton-Smith, and Amanda Roberts; Juniors – Brandi Church, Laura Fox, Ensley Gammel, McKenzie Joseph, Samantha Saenz, and Nikki Sawyer; Sophomore – Briana Ford; Freshman – Brittney Roberts.
