For the first time in my professional career, I’m feeling forced to constantly prove my worth at work with my bosses, colleagues, fans and critics. Jobs are scarce and the potential of losing your job is all too real. But besides not getting a monthly paycheck, which in my case allows me to pay my bills and buy small luxury items, I worry about all those ideas and projects that won’t see the light of day. I worry about not having an opportunity tocontribute to social causes. I worry about all the people that I can help with my ideas and talents. Of course, I’m not ignorant of the importance of getting paid for your work. I am, after all, an amalgam of creative and practical thinker. We are going through a tough time where mediocre results just won’t cut it. There’s a saying that in crisis there’s opportunity. Well, my left-brain translates that as to mean, ‘learn a new skill, volunteer for tasks outside your scope of work, be humble and know that there are smarter and more talented people than you.’

I completely agree with you, Maria. Even in a bad economy there is room for people who are willing to think outside of the box and take on new challenges. I was just telling my husband the other day that now is as good a time as any to begin exploring new ideas. Now is a great time to lay the foundation for action so that as things pick up (and eventually they will --- they always do) you're ready to go forward, full speed ahead.
Wow Maria, you're really a great thinker!! As you know Great Thinkers in our history didn't fare so well at first but as time went on, they were finally recognized and their worth showed through their accomplishments. So shall you also fare well and be rewarded as all Great Thinkers.
